Day 6!

Hello SJA Parents,

What's the scoop in Room 14 today? Let's check it out!

Math:
The students learned about estimating lengths using non-standard units. We looked at many ways you can measure the length of a table by using cubes, short sticks or your fingers to estimate roughly how long the table is using such materials.
In this example, it takes 3 bunny candies to measure a spoon and 2 pink candies to measure a marker.
Next, we reviewed how students can relate different units of measure. I provided an anchor chart and explained to the students how they can use this chart as a quick reference guide for when they need to change from mm to cm, m to km or vice versa. See anchor chart below:

UOI:
The students started working on their art project which will continue on tomorrow. Students are to create their own stained glass design using construction paper and tissue paper. Please see examples below:

French:
Class was cancelled today. We used this time to work on our Language unit. The students worked on writing supporting sentences when given a topic sentence. They were encouraged to use their imagination and think creatively in their writing. The work that is not completed will be taken home for homework.
