Day 4!

Hello SJA Parents,

Quote of the day: "If you are persistent you will get it. If you are consistent, you will keep it."
Math:
The students worked in pairs to solve five long division word problems. We reviewed as a class together on How to Solve Word Problems. Each group were given a worksheet, a manila paper and writing tools. The students were asked to write down each question on the manila paper and to use the strategy of C.U.B.E.S to help solve the problem. The students examined the questions, highlighted important information and showed their work. We will continue to work on the word problems again tomorrow. UOI:
We started a whole new Unit of Inquiry on Light and Sound. We started by sharing on our class chart what we know about light and sound. We then worked on a worksheet as a class about the different sounds you may hear in a given scenario. In this case, it was a basketball game in a court. The students locked their minds on and thought about the different soft and loud sounds they may hear if they were at the basketball court. The students shared their findings and were given the last period of the class to note down what they may wonder about in this unit. 

Our book shelf in the reading corner is packed with multiple Light and Sound books/resources for the students to read and look at over the course of the next few weeks!

Language:
We are preparing for the upcoming writing assessment on Information Report. The students learned about what makes an effective and complete report. The students will continue to learn and practice about proper report writing all throughout the week. Please see photo below:
An Information Report includes:
An introduction
A description paragraph with details
A conclusion 
Agenda:
